Women Water Champions (WWCs) is an initiative by National Water Mission, Ministry of Jal Shakti, the Government of India, UNDP India and SIWI  to underscore the critical role of women in water conservation and management & promote women’s leadership in water governance.

Through this initiative supported by UNDP-SIWI Water Governance Facility (WGF) under its GoAL Waters programme, 41 women contributing at the grassroots level are being recognized for their committed effort in the water sector. This Compendium of the Women Water Champions from the grassroots documents the journey of 41 women who challenged the water crisis and steadily addressed the issues with grit, courage, and determination.
