eVIN recognized at the GSMA Asia Mobile Awards 2017Jun 29, 2017
eVIN -- India’s smart mobile application for digitizing vaccine logistics -- won the prestigious GSMA Asia Mobile Award 2017 (AMO) for Outstanding Mobile Contribution to Sustainable Development Goals in Asia on Wednesday. The ceremony, held during the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Shanghai, recognized the contributions of several transformative mobile innovations making a mark in the Asian region.
The Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network, or eVIN, is an online real-time vaccine logistics management system developed and implemented by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the United Nations Development Programme. The path-breaking technological innovation aims to ensure equity through efficient distribution and timely availability of vaccines to all. By providing real-time information on vaccine stocks and flows, and storage temperatures at all vaccine storage points across 12 states at present, the mobile- and web-based application is empowering last-mile healthcare workers, thereby strengthening immunization systems in India, home to the world’s largest birth cohort of 27 million. eVIN supports the government’s ambitious Universal Immunization Programme that aims to immunize more than 156 million beneficiaries every year.
The Asia Mobile Awards are an opportunity for organizations across the region to showcase the latest and best mobile products, apps, devices, services, and initiatives to industry and the world. First presented in 2006, the AMA awards recognize everything from game-changing mobile devices and technologies to applications and services developed for, or available in, Asian markets, highlighting the ever-growing value that mobility brings to users, industries, businesses, communities and economies across Asia.Contact information
