India’s New UN RC/UNDP Presents his Credentials
[New Delhi, 25 November 2009 - The newly appointed United Nations Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative in India, Mr. Patrice Coeur-Bizot presented his credentials to Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Minister of State for External Affairs, Government of India.
Welcoming the new UN RC/UNDP RR, Dr. Tharoor affirmed commitment of the Government of India to further continue close cooperation with the UN agencies in the country under the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (2008-2012).Mr. Coeur-Bizot expressed his commitment to further enhance UN agencies concerted initiatives in support of India’s sustainable development efforts, specifically in achieving the national goals and the global Millennium Development Goals. Mr. Patrice Coeur-Bizot assumed the position of the UN RC/UNDP RR in India on 19 September 2009.He brings to his new position a strong and diverse experience in the UN system, having served most recently as Resident Coordinator in the Maldives, after holding similar positions in Myanmar and Mauritania. Mr. Coeur-Bizot holds a Master’s Degree in Economic Development from the University of Grenoble (France) and has conducted post-graduate studies in economic planning and urban development. He graduated with Honours from the Political Science Institute (Sciences Po Grenoble) in France. His postgraduate research paper was dedicated to the UN system (From Theory to Practice: A Critical View of FAO Policy and Operations).
