The report ‘Frontline Observations on Climate Change and the Sustainability of Large Marine Ecosystems’ observes that warming ocean waters are causing major shifts in fish distribution and severe degradation of coastal habitats.

    Equator Prize Winners Announced, Awards will be Presented During Rio+20

    New York - The Equator Initiative announced yesterday the names of twenty-five local community groups to receive the Equator Prize 2012 in recognition of their outstanding contributions to sustainable development. Among the winners that were selected from 812 nominations submitted by communities in 113 countries across the developing world, was India’s Shashwat group, a grassroots initiative that was developed in response to the displacement of Koli Mahadeo, Thakarsand Katkaris tribal peoples by construction of the Dimbhe dam.
