A roundtable consultation on the changing role of corporate social responsibility in creating a sustainable future was held in New Delhi on 12 October 2012.
During the consultation, Rebeca Grynspan, UN Under-Secretary-General and UNDP Associate Administrator stressed on the scope and need for partnerships as a way for the industry to work cohesively towards a defined and important set of issues that, in turn, respond to the most pressing development challenges. Many leading corporations such as TATA, Biocon, Bharti and Mahindra presented key learnings from their initiatives on the ground in the field of education, community health, financial inclusion, women empowerment and sustainability while working with the most marginalized and excluded communities.
Rebeca Grynspan was appointed by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to the position of UN Under-Secretary-General and UNDP Associate Administrator effective 1 February, 2010. Before joining the United Nations, Ms. Grynspan was elected Vice-President of Costa Rica from 1994 to 1998.
Ms. Lise Grande is the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative for India.
