Living Beyond the Dark – A photo documentation of renewable energy based remote rural electrification projects in India will be launched jointly by Shri Devender Singh, IAS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Power, Government of India and Ms. Caitlin Wiesen-Antin, Country Director, United Nations Development Programme, India on 22 February 2011 at the Hotel Claridges, New Delhi. The book has been published under the Ministry of Power – United Nations Development Programme project on Access to Energy – enhancing effectiveness of electricity distribution and end uses.
The book showcases eight sites where renewable energy-based electricity projects, implemented by the Government of India, the UNDP and various other funding agencies, are operational and are reaching the unreached across India. The book exemplifies the important role that such renewable energy based small stand alone projects can play in improving the socio economic standards in remote rural villages.
