    United Nations Public Lecture by Dr. Karan Singh, Member of Parliament

    The fourth UN Public Lecture will be delivered by Dr. Karan Singh on Education in the 21st Century. Dr. Karan Singh is a member of India’s Upper House of Parliament, the Rajya Sabha. He was born heir apparent to the then ruler of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and served successively as regent, Sardar-i-Riyasat and governor of the state. A recipient of the Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian award in India, Dr Singh has held the tourism and civil aviation, health and family planning and the education and culture portfolios in the Indian government and also served briefly as Ambassador to the United States. Dr Singh has been Chancellor of Benaras Hindu University, Jammu and Kashmir University, and Jawaharlal Nehru University. He has also served as Chairman of the Indian Board of Wildlife and is associated with several cultural and academic institutions.

    Announcing Recipients of the Inclusive Media – UNDP Fellowships 2014

    Six journalists from Assam, Jharkhand, Punjab and Odisha, are recipients of the 2014 Inclusive Media-UNDP Fellowships. The Fellowships seek to draw attention to rural distress and other development challenges through providing a voice to marginalized communities and groups.
