• UN Volunteers India, organized a celebration for International Volunteers Day 2017 in Delhi, India. Over 800 Youth gathered to celebrate and express their commitment to this year's IVD theme of 'Volunteers Act First'.

  • To commemorate International Youth Day, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MoYAS) in collaboration with the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) and United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) organised a National Consultation on Youth Building Peace, on 11 August 2017. The consultation was aimed at understanding the perception of youth's role in peace building process and in recognising the role of youth led organisations in peacebuilding activities and promoting a culture of peace.

  • United Nations Volunteers India, in close partnership with NGOs PRAVAH, Restless Development, and Commutiny, hosted a Youth Adda in New Delhi on 8 July. Over 130 youth gathered at UN House to discuss and share their ideas about SDG 10 “Reduce Inequalities”.

  • MoYAS, UNV India, UNDP and YES BANK organized a roundtable to accelerate the initiative for promoting youth volunteering in India, on 14th March 2017, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the UN Conference Hall, UNDP 55 Lodhi Estate, New Delhi.

  • In order to understand the progress of the project “Strengthening of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) and National Service Scheme (NSS)’’, a three-day Consultation and Review meeting on sharing of good practices was held in New Delhi from 25- 27 October 2016.

  • With the completion of one year of the “Youth Adda” series, the IVD 2016 “Global Applause – Give volunteers a hand” was held on 5 December 2016 in Delhi, focusing on “Youth Volunteering and SDGs”. More than 150 youth participated at IVD 2016 addressed by UN Resident Coordinator (UNRC)/UNDP Resident Representative (UNDP RR) Mr. Yuri Afanasiev, and Representative of UNFPA in India and Bhutan, Mr. Diego Palacios. The IVD 2016 was held by UNV India in partnership with Pravah, Commutiny-the Youth Collective, Restless Development and Sweccha.

  •  Translating India’s National Youth Policy 2014 into Action

    In order to deliberate strategies to enhance youth development and volunteering as well as the four action plans on four key thematic areas of the NYP 2014 – Environment and Disaster Risk Reduction, Social Inclusion, Gender Justice and Equality, and Social Entrepreneurship, the first Expert Group Committee Meeting was held in New Delhi on 16 May 2016.

  • Training Young Leaders to Promote Youth Volunteerism across India

    Flagging off the on-ground engagement for the new joint youth project ‘Strengthening NSS and NYKS’, 32 UN Volunteers have undergone a professional development programme at the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD) Regional Centre, Chandigarh.

  • Consultation on Youth Volunteerism and Youth Policy on International Volunteer Day 2015

    On International Volunteer Day 2015, in a consultation organised by the UN Volunteers India, entrepreneurs, experts, volunteers and young people discussed the role of volunteering in the implementation of the National Youth Policy and how it can help India achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

  • On 12 October 2015, politically conscious students from across Delhi participated in YKA Debates, a new interactive format that is designed to cover themes especially relevant to Indian youth and that simultaneously reaches out to young people from all around the world by live-streaming the debate online.
