Brainstorming towards a Competency Framework for India’s Civil Services
11 January 2013 - A day-long brainstorming session, to provide crucial inputs to the draft framework which helps understand and define competency in the Indian Civil Services, was organized by UNDP in partnership with the Government of India. The draft competency framework developed as part of the PIIA project, a joint collaboration between UNDP and the Government of India, is being implemented by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Ministry of Personal, Public Grievances and Pensions (MoP). A key objective is to support the shift towards the Competency-based Human Resource Management of the Indian Civil Services.
Governance in the 21st Century - Leadership Development in Civil Services

UNDP and National Institute of Administrative Research Sign Agreement on Leadership Development for the Civil Services
25 April 2012 - The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the National Institute of Administrative Research (NIAR), Government of India, have signed a letter of agreement to enable the implementation of activities under the Pathways for an Inclusive Indian Administration (PIIA) project. Under this agreement, NIAR will establish a Leadership Development Cell which will undertake research to gather best practice from India and abroad, develop training materials and elaborate policy recommendations that will complement the National Training Policy. This initiative is one component of a wide ranging partnership between UNDP and the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions which aims at developing capacities for an inclusive and results-oriented civil service.
