Winners of the UNV Global Presentation Competition "Youth Change the World - Volunteering for the SDGs"
The jury, comprising of members from UNV, UNDP and our partner MASH Project, paid special attention to how feasible the ideas are, how creative our candidates have been and how well they accommodated for the role of volunteers and technology in spreading awareness through all parts of society and throughout the whole country.

Asia-Pacific Launch of State of the World's Volunteerism Report 2015
On 23 June, UN Volunteers India in collaboration with Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and UNDP welcomed young volunteers, academics, civil society representatives as well as private sector and media associates to launch the 2015 State of the World's Volunteerism Report. The Report was launched by Rajeev Gupta, Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sport, UNV Deputy Executive Coordinator Rosemary Kalapurakal, UN Resident Coordinator a.i. Louis George Arsenault, and Rajesh Tandon from Participatory Research in Asia. Lead author Amanda Mukwashi herself presented SWVR's key findings. The Launch was followed by a lively discussion on the role volunteerism in facilitating sustainable development and good governance. International Youth Day 2014
On International Youth Day 2014, the UN Task Team on Youth in collaboration with Ministry of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Youth Affairs and Sports and Rajiv Gandhi National Institute for Youth Development hosted more than 300 Indian youth at India Habitat Centre, Delhi. In a lively and well received mix of activities, they engaged renowned experts and policy makers to discuss mental health as integral part of youth well-being. National Consultation on Youth Volunteerism
A national consultation on youth volunteerism was organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MoYAS), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) on 12 November. The consultation focused on a Plan of Action for implementing the draft National Youth Policy (2013) and a National Youth Volunteer Programme for India, keeping in view the 12th Five-Year Plan and the recommendations of the post-2015 development agenda.
International Year of Volunteers (IYV) +10 India Campaign
Last year, 2011, marked 10 years since the International Year of Volunteers and the United Nations called for this anniversary to be marked across the planet with UNV as the Focal point. Actions culminated on 5 December 2011 with the UN General Assembly session on volunteering and the launch of the first-ever State of the World Volunteerism Report in New York and about 80 countries around the world.

Volunteering for Change
Youth turned out in large numbers to volunteer for a Yamuna Shramdaan or clean up aimed at drawing attention to the important role volunteering can play in cleaning the highly-polluted river that is the lifeline for 60 million people in the country.
