    India scores the highest amongst countries participating in a global initiative to improve use of solar water for heating, says a United Nations Environment Programme report. India implemented the global solar water heating project from September 2008 to March 2013 with support from UNDP and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. The project contributed to a three-fold increase in collector area over a five year period.

    The publication comprises working papers presented at a consultation on 'Technology Cooperation for Addressing Climate Change' organised jointly by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India and the United Nations Development Programme.


UNDP is committed to promoting low carbon, climate resilient and inclusive development. We support the Government of India in meeting national development objectives along with commitments under important multilateral environment agreements. Key areas of intervention are climate change (mitigation and adaptation), sustainable natural resource management (conserving biodiversity and addressing land degradation) and integrated chemical management (phasing out of ozone depleting substances and reducing persistent organic pollutants).
